MMA is proud to present Jazz on the Lake, a free concert on Saturday, May 21 at 6:00 p.m. at Teardrop Lake. In the event of rain, the concert will be moved to the MMA Gymtorium. Guests are welcome and are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
Featured ensembles will include the MMA Big Band and the MMA Faculty Jazz Quartet. The concert will also feature Rob McGrath, a UK saxophonist and educator, and MMA Bandmaster WO2 Andrew “Freddie” Lomas of the Royal Marines Band.

ABOUT ROB MCGRATH
McGrath began playing the clarinet and saxophone at school in Kingston upon Hull, UK where he became a member of the Hull Youth Orchestra and Hull Youth Jazz Orchestra.
When he left school, he joined HM Royal Marines Band Service as a solo clarinetist, and spent three years at the Royal Marines School of Music, Deal. There he was awarded the Clarinet Cup, Woodwind player of the Year, and the coveted Cassell Prize Silver Medal. After 6 years adult service, McGrath left the Royal Marines and went on to study at Middlesex University, London. While at Middlsex he was taught by UK educators, including Nikki Iles and Pete Churchill.
McGrath has played and continues to play professionally with many different ensembles including Pave Jazz Jam, Joe Loss Orchestra, Ariya Astrobeat Arkestra, Moonlight Serenade Orchestra, Memphis Belle Orchestra, Empress Orchestra and many others.
